Sips N Strokes in Trussville with Carrie

I loved it so much last night I went again tonight. Carrie came into town to see me and we decided to go. So much harder tonight!!! Carrie's ended up looking great but mine's a little rough...my wine bottles look like jugs...oh well I still love it and may even go again tomorrow!!!

Monday night me and Kristen went to Sips N Strokes. I have never been before but I am hooked now! It was so much fun!

I Almost Died Last Night...

I was coming back from Sips N Strokes in Vestavia (pics to come) and I could see lightening in the distance but it looked far away so I kept driving. So I get around the airport and it starts pouring and the lightning is coming down (in bolts) all around me. I get off at Roebuck Pkwy (stupid mistake) and the lights are not working and I"m basically floating down the parkway.

I turn on my little cutoff road and there's a car in front of me going REALLY REALLY slow stopping all the time. All of sudden there's a bolt of lightning and it hits a transformer like 20 feet away from me and sparks fly. Thanks goodness that car was going slow huh?

I kept thinking I'm going to die...I'm glad I went to church on Sunday...I'm going to die. So after the sparks I turn around and float back onto the parkway and go sit in the Burger King parking lot for awhile.

I called ERik basically crying and he's like if it quits raining you need to get home. But there were bolts of lightning all around me. It finally slacked up a bit and I started out.

Well now the traffic was backing up from a wreck on down the parkway...again thank goodness I turned around or it might have been me so I went and got back on the interstate and went to the Trussville exit to get off. By then the lightning was past me and I made it home in one piece but seriously I thought I was going to die.

Poor Toto had been outside the whole time (I didn't know it was going to storm) and he darted in as soon as I opened the door soaking wet (usually he stays dry under the porch but I think the wind was too hard).

Date Night

Saturday night me and Erik had a date night. We (well I) have been planning this for awhile cause we haven't had a real date in awhile. Our plan was to go to The Melting Pot and then to Blue Monkey. I made reservations for 6:30. When Erik came to pick me up he handed me this...

I know, I know he's the sweetest thing ever! Anyway we get there and he told them we had a reservation for Erik Overby, the hostess asked is this the same one as Laura Overby...I was like NO!!! Apparently, Laura had made reservations for her and Pres at the exact same time at the exact same restaurant...how weird is that??? This was Erik's first fondue experience and he liked it but the chocolate was his favorite!

Of course when Laura and Pres get there of course they sat them right next to us! Me and Laura were both a little disappointed cause we had been so set on wanting "date night" but it ended up fine.

Anyway we ended up not going to Blue Monkey cause I felt bad cause we spent so much money at melting pot but it was the 2nd best date (best date was our first date) I've ever been on!

One of our fave doctors is leaving the ED to go be a regular pediatrician. We had a lunch for her on Friday at Loco's. I don't know who was working in the ED cause there was a lot of people there...especially the doctors! We'll miss you Jenn!

My Attempt at Cake Pops

So my new favorite website is bakerella.blogspot.com and on this site she makes the cutest little cake pops. Its cake on a stick and they seemed so easy to make so I tried it and they taste great but not so pretty.

So I started by baking a regular yellow sheet cake. After it cooled completely I crumbled it up and mixed it with a container of cream cheese icing. So here's what mine looked like...

Bakerella's do not look like this her's are all smooth and one color...I don't know how she does that cause when you bake a cake the outside is darker than the inside. Anyway, moving on so I melted these candy melts and dipped the cake balls in the chocolate, then sprinkles, then put them on the styrofoam to harden. But they're all clumpy and the chocolate drips off. And my chocolate only covered like 13 balls! When the chocolate hardened you couldn't re-microwave and use it so some of it went to waste : ( This is the covered cake balls...

And these are all my leftover cake balls needing chocolate...BUT...they all taste good!

Is hockey finished yet????

I called Erik today asking if he wanted to go see this new movie. We've both been wanting to see it and we hardly ever do anything other than hang out at the house so I thought it was a good idea...nope there's a hockey game tonight. So we can't go...I mean its not like its Alabama football or something like that. Erik keeps saying its an important game but it really doesn't matter who wins tonight cause they're gonna play again regardless. Anyway I was a little bummed but he loves hockey and I'm a good girlfriend. So GO REDWINGS!!!!

Anyway a few min later I got a call and it was Erik asking if I wanted him to cook for me. I think he started feeling bad...he's so sweet! He had me spaghetti, garlic bread, and salad waiting on me when I got home! And...he made my bed for me! He kinda got it right : )...

New Bedrooms

After monthes of looking I finally got a new comforter set and I'm in love with it! I also bought the candle sconces for behind the bed but I have much more to buy I just ran out of money. I think I'm gonna do that purple color curtains and put gold material on the wall behind the bed with the sconces on top of that. I need art though and I"m not sure what I'm gonna do about that...


And this is my new guest bedroom! I got the bed from Lee and it took me a little while to figure out what I wanted in here but I finally am getting it. I did this room first and then it was cuter than my room so I had to get on the ball with the other one.

Hazmat Class

We went to this horribly boring class today but at the end we got to put on these fabulous costumes! It was hilarious! Chris could barely fit in and once he got in he couldn't move too good.

Destin Trip

Monday morning I went with some girls from work to Destin for a little beach trip. It was gorgeous! The water was crystal clear and hardly any waves. We had an awesome house to stay in and had a great time! We laid out for 2 days straight, did some shopping, and ate out at some great restaurants. Today we were going to lay out a little again but it was ugly outside so we just came on home. (Its always easier to leave when its raining though) Thanks Katherine for letting us use your house!!!
