Swine Flu

So I left work today and saw the funniest thing ever...this mom was walking up the sidewalk carrying a little boy and another girl was walking behind her...she had a mask on but neither one of the kids did! I mean really...

...who cares about this stupid swine flu???!!! My Mama called me in a panic last night saying there were confirmed cases in Alabama...I said so...she was like people have died! OK for all you non healthcare people...hundreds of thousands of people die every year from the flu! This is no different except that its a different kind of strand of flu, its crossed borders quickly, and the media has been all over it! The flu is a virus...there is no medicine to make it go away...it has to run its course. There is a med called Tamiflu but it only treats the symptoms and it only works if you catch it early so most of the time its not used anyway. Treat your symptoms if you have a fever, take motrin. If you're having trouble breathing go see the doctor. The reason people die from this is the same reason they die from the regular ole flu...they don't get treated for there symptoms.

I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be horrific at work with all these people bringing their kids up there thinking they have the swine...

Happy Birthday Megan!!!

Tuesday was my little sis's bday and last night me and Erik met her and her boyfriend greg in Bessemer to eat. We're gonna have a better bday for her in a few weeks at home but couldn't get everybody together. We went to Habaneros and had a good time!

ED Education Retreat

Monday we had our education retreat at Tannehill. We had a lot of ideas so hopefully we will all implement these ideas : ) And then of course we grilled out and ate A LOT!

Birmingham Barons

Last thursday night a few of us from work went to Thirsty Thurs at the barons game...we had a blast and the barons won (I think)

OK so last weekend at the ballfield poor Kennedy's bottle was leaking and there was no other one with us so me and Janice (Erik and Pres's mama) came up with this solution....I unwrapped a feminine product that I had in my purse and we used it to seal the leak...it was so redneck but it worked!

So Long Jimmy

Our educator Jimmy left the ER earlier this month and we had him a going away party at Cantina. The party was awesome..food not so much. We got him an Alabama pic for his going away present. He's only going upstairs of the hospital but it won't be the same without him! Jimmy was the BEST educator we could've ever asked for and we will miss him so much!!!

I loved this pic...we were just outside being goofy letting Jimmy's balloons go but I thought it turned out so pretty!

I have no idea what these things were suppose to be but they looked like some kind of hat an Asian would wear and Wilson wore it with ease....but they were extremely heavy and hurt!

Trying to find gators

After the photo op on the rocks we went to this gator pond. Last time Erik went there were supposedly tons of alligators we didn't see any. The only wildlife we saw were some deer. After the state park we went to eat lunch at Margaritaville and then started home.

Sunday we had to be out of the condo pretty early and it was kinda overcast plus we had enough sun so we packed up and went to the state park.

Erik's poor legs...I put sunscreen on him everywhere but his legs. We thought about it halfway through the day but by then it was too late. This is what the left side of my face looks like without makeup.

On to the beach...

We got to the beach late Friday night. It was absolutely gorgeous on saturday and we laid out all day long. We didn't even go in for lunch. Sooo...we both came back crispy. But this was one of the best birthdays I've ever had! Erik is absolutely wonderful and is so good to me! He does anything to make me happy and I love him so much!!!

Gettin ready to go eat. Erik took me to my favorite restaurant the Backporch. They have my favorite food ever...grouper florentine. After dinner we went and played putt putt and then came back to the condo and played cards.

Some of my family and some of Erik's family went out to eat Thursday night for my bday. My family showed up in these goofy glasses. Erik's parents probably throught they were retarded. We had a great time though!

Thursday was my 26th :( birthday. I had to work but my absolutely wonderful boyfriend sent me some pink roses! I was totally surprised since he was already taking me to the beach but I love them and I love him!!!

Bachlorette Party

The bachlorette party started at Sol, Mandy's favorite mexican restaurant. We then went to the old Pickwick Hotel and got ready to go out. We went to Rare Martini and then to Nana Funk's.

All the power went out in Nana Funk's while we were there. Those of us that were sober we a little freaked out. I guess I watch too many morbid shows but I just knew somebody was fixin to come in shooting everybody, but those who felt pretty good didn't seem to mind the power outage.
